This girl is
on fire! Katniss Everdeen (she prefers her full call name) started her show career with a Best of Breed win from the
6-9 puppy class at the San Antonio Kennel Club show in Kerrville, Texas, on Sunday, March 12, 2016, with our thanks to Judge
Anne M. Barlow. At nine months, and after a few Reserve majors elsewhere, Katniss was Winners Bitch, Best of Winners,
and Best Opposite Sex from the Bred-by Exhibitor class for a five-point major at the Acadiana Kennel Club show in
Lake Charles, Louisiana, on June 9, 2016, under Judge Norm Kenney (pictured above with Charles). Katniss was shown again
on the last day of that cluster and took the Reserve. At the Lone Star State Classic cluster in Dallas (July 7-10),
Katniss was shown on the first and last days. On the first day, at the Trinity Valley Westie Club Specialty show, Katniss
took a Reserve Major from the Bred-by class under Judge Dianne Ivey. On the last day, at the Trinity Valley Kennel Club
show, Katniss was Winners Bitch, Best of Winners, and Best Opposite under Judge Christine Erickson for Katniss'
second major win, taking her more than halfway to her Championship title at ten months. Katniss Everdeen's next
time out was during the Houston World Series of Dog Shows July 20-24, 2016, where she scored a four-point major going
Winners Bitch on Wednesday at the Houston All Terrier Club show under Judge Vicki L. Abbott, and became a New
Champion at 10.5 months of age on Thursday with her fourth major win when she captured Winners Bitch under
Judge Geir Flyckt-Pedersen at the West Highland White Terrier Club of SE Texas Specialty show. All of Katniss' championship
point wins except her first puppy point were from the Bred-by Exhibitor class. Katniss' first weekend out
as a special was during the Lone Star State Classic cluster in Dallas the weekend of December 8-11, 2016, where she picked
up three- and four-point Grand Champion majors three of the four days. Paula then showed Katniss at the West Highland White
Terrier Club of America National Specialty on March 18, 2017, during the show cluster in Louisville, Kentucky, where Katniss
received the First Award of Merit, with our thanks to Judge Connie Clark for the honor. Katniss became a new Grand Champion
her next weekend out, at the Casino Royale Cluster in Shreveport, Louisiana, the weekend of April 21-24, 2017, winning three
five-point Grand Champion majors in a large entry, with Select Bitch wins under Judges Gloria Geringer and Dr. Gerard Penta,
and Best of Breed and her GCH title on the last day with our thanks to Judge Norman B. Kenney. Katniss went on to win Specialty
Best In Show honors under Breeder Judge Bob Shreve at the Trinity Valley WHWTClub show in Dallas on July 6, 2017, followed
by two other Best of Breed wins under Judges David Kirkland and Peggy Beisel-McIlwaine during the Lone Star State Classic
Cluster. These wins placed Katniss among the Top Ten Westies in the U.S. for 2017 . Katniss was then placed in the expert hands of the A-Team
and was shown by Alfonso Escobedo during the "Montgomery" weekend in Pennsylvania, October 5-8, 2017, where Katniss
was beautifully presented among other top notch competition and earned Select major wins under Judge Robert Stein at Friday's
Hatboro Dog Club show, under Judge Gay Dunlap at Saturday's Devon Dog Show Association show, and again--for Katniss' highest
honor of the weekend--under Judge Edd Bivin at the WHWTCA National Specialty in conjunction with the Montgomery County Kennel
Club show in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, a win that also gave Katniss a Qualifying Award Certificate for Crufts in 2018 and 2019. Katniss finished out 2017 on fire, with December Best Of Breed wins at the Conroe
Kennel Club shows (December 2-3) under Judges Dr. Alvin W. Krause and Joao Machado, followed by Best of Breed then Group 4
and 2 placements in Dallas under Judges Dr. Steve Keating, Dr. John A. Reeve-Newson, and Judith Daniels, respectively, finishing
the year with another Best of Breed and making the cut in the hugely competitive group ring at the Central Florida KC show
on December 14, 2017, under Judge Wood Wornall. Katniss picked up her Bronze GCH title along the way, and ended 2017
among the AKC's Top Ten Westies All Systems (#7 Breed and #9 All Breed). Check out the 2017 Show News page for photos and details. Katniss started 2018 winning the honor of 1st Award of
Merit at the Westminster Kennel Club show under visiting Canadian Judge Rosemary Shoreman, made the cut in her huge class
during her debut at Crufts in England in March 2018 under Breeder Judge Mrs. T. M. Gaydon, picked up Specialty show Selects
at the WHWTC of Indiana (Breeder Judge Sue Napady) and the WHWTCA National Roving (Breeder Judge Judith White), plus BOS at
the WHWTC of Greater Atlanta Specialty (Judge Mrs. Terry Berrios), plus Terrier Group 1st and numerous Terrier Group placements.
Katniss ended 2018 as #5 Westie All Breed and #6 Breed (2 points shy of #5!). Check the 2018 Show News page for photos and details. Katniss Everdeen ended her show career with two major achievements: winning her Gold Grand
Champion title with a Best of Breed major win at the Sun Country Terrier Club show in Phoenix, Arizona, on January 31, 2019,
under Judge Loraine Boutwell, and a Select Bitch award at the Westminster Kennel Club show on February 12, 2019, in New York
City under Judge Alfred J. Ferruggiaro. Katniss was steered to these wins by the professional "A-Team" of Alfonso
Escobedo and Ashlie Whitmore. Katniss
ends her career having defeated other champions more than 100 times (more than 70 of which were major wins) . In April 2019, our Girl On Fire moved to Dallas where
Katniss' flame shines bright as she enjoys plenty of play time with new best friend Xavi and nephew Steely.
