The
mighty Flash, king of the impossible, he's for everyone of us (from the Flash Gordon theme song by Queen). Flash showed his
brilliance at the Baytown Kennel Club show in Crosby, Texas, on May 1, 2016, with his first win under Judge Roger R. Hartinger.
Flash was Winners Dog, Best of Winners, and Best Opposite Sex over the male special. Flash picked up two majors
during the Lone Star State Classic cluster in Dallas (July 7 - 10, 2016): Flash was Winners Dog from the Bred-by class
at the Trinity Valley West Highland White Terrier Club Specialty show on Thursday under Judge Dianne Ivey for a four-point
major; and Flash won a three-point major at Saturday's Texas Kennel Club show under Judge Mareth K. Kipp (above), putting
him more than halfway to his Championship title at ten months. During the Houston World Series of Dog Shows July 20-24,
2016, Flash picked up another win under Judge Robert J. Shreve, along with a couple of Reserve wins. Flash was
then handled by the A-Team of Alfonso Escobedo and Ashlie Whitmore, picking up a few more points, leaving him one point shy
of his Champion title going into the Lone Star State Classic cluster in Dallas December 8-11, 2016. Due to a ring conflict,
Paula had the honor of taking Flash in on Friday of the show where he won a four-point major (WD/BW) and his Championship.
A-Team assistant Connery Cole then showed Flash the next two days where he picked up Grand Champion Select Dog majors. Flash's
next appearance was at the Mardi Gras cluster of shows (Baton Rouge and Alexandria KC shows) in Alexandria, Louisiana, with
Alfonso Escobedo and Ashlie Whitmore, where he picked up a Select Dog GCH major under Judge Edd E. Bivin plus two Best of
Breed wins under Judges Jack Ireland and Denys Janssen, plus a Terrier Group Fourth under Judge Ireland. Flash ended
the weekend five points shy of his Grand Champion title. The following weekend at the Heart of the Desert Classic cluster
in Phoenix, Arizona, handlers Alfonso Escobedo and Ashlie Whitmore showed Flash to his Grand Champion title. Flash picked
up Select Dog wins at the Sun Counry Terrier Club show under Judge Dr. Thomas Lee Hossfeld and at the Valley of the Sun West
Highland White Terrier Club Specialty under Judge Fred C. Bassett; and he was Best Opposite and then Best of Breed at the
Lost Dutchman Kennel Club shows under Judges Robert Stein and Alice M. Watkins, finishing the weekend with a five-point GCH
major, giving him 29 GCH points and his Grand Champion title at 17 months. In May 2017, Flash, named after the superhero astronaut, very fittingly retired
to the home of a retired NASA engineer in Austin, Texas. Flash loves his new parents, Don and Sue Travis, and is sure
to have many fun adventures with his new sidekick, Scout.
