With
Super as the dam and Bruno as the sire, we knew the "superior" offspring would exemplify the Bruno Mars song lyrics,
"amazing, just the way you are". We believe JR is "Just Right" just the way he is, and think the judges
will agree!
JR participated in a 4-6 month puppy competition and won the Terrier Puppy Group
(photo below) under Judge Pamela Wilson in Belton, Texas, on October 20, 2018. He showed "just right" at his regular
class debut in Dallas in December 2018. At nine months of age at the Brazos Valley Kennel Club shows in Navasota on March
16 and 17, 2019, JR earned back-to-back three-point majors from the Bred-by class going Winners Dog, Best of Winners, and
Best Opposite over the male special under Judges Harold Tatro III (pictured below) and Donna Conod. JR picked up two more
majors during the WHWTCA National Roving Specialty weekend at Purina Farms in Gray Summit, Missouri. He was Reserve Winners
Dog at the National under Judge Lydia Coleman Hutchinson on June 1, 2019, for a three-point major, and the next day earned
a five-point major under Breeder Judge Linda L. Wells, leaving him one point shy of his Champion title a week before his first
birthday. JR finished his next show weekend out, earning Winners Dog and a five-point major at the Trinity Valley West Highland
White Terrier Club Specialty in conjunction with the North Texas Terrier Club show on July 4, 2019, in Dallas, under Judge
Robert E. Hutton. The next weekend, during the Houston World Series of Dog Shows, new Champion JR was moved up to Best of
Breed competition and took a 5-point GCH major Select Dog win at the Houston All-Terrier Club show under Judge Bergit Coady-Kabel
(pictured above), with our appreciation for the huge honor. In August 2019, JR's lead was passed to the pro-handler A-Team of Alfonso Escobedo and Ashlie Whitmore, and the move
proved "just right". The A-Team took JR to the Greeley Kennel Club shows in Colorado, where JR was Best of Breed
on August 18 under Judge Keke Kahn and then Terrier Group Third under Judge Ken Murray in a Terrier entry of 257. His next
weekend out, JR faced two of the country's top Westies and picked up a Select Dog major under Judge Judy Webb and Best of
Breed plus Terrier Group Third on August 24 under Judge Judy Daniels. JR then returned to Colorado for his first BISS win
the day he was fifteen months old, under Judge Karen M. Child at the WHWTC of Greater Denver Specialty on September 6, 2019,
which also earned him his Grand Champion title, followed by a Select Dog major under Judge Joe Lobb, then another Best of
Breed under Judge Dennis McCoy. JR then joined the A-Team and top-ranked Westies from across the country for Montgomery
weekend in Pennsylvania, where JR took Select Dog at the Hatboro Kennel Club show under Judge Lydia C. Hutchinson on October
3, 2019, then made the final cut of only four male Westies at Saturday's Devon Kennel Club show under Judge Cindy Meyer. On
Sunday, October 6, 2019, JR--16 months old on the day--JR was awarded Best of Breed at the West Highland White Terrier Club
of America National Specialty show by Judge Kathleen Ferris, the BEST Best of Breed win for a Westie in any given year. We
are very appreciatiive to Judge Ferris for the huge and high honor, and deeply grateful to Alfonso Escobedo and the A-Team
for making this dream a reality. The National Specialty BOB also made JR an international qualifier for Crufts in March 2020
and 2021. Following a break, JR then earned anoher high honor, winning the Terrier Group the first day of the Travis County
Kennel Club show on October 26, 2019, with our thanks to Breeder Judge Robert J. Shreve. JR ended 2019 as #6 Westie in the
country and earned his Grand Champion Bronze title during the Lone Star State Classic in Dalls in December 2019. JR started 2020 with more group placements, including a Terrier Group win in
January in Alexandria, Louisiana. He was beautifully presented by the A-Team of Ashlie Whitmore and Alfonso Escobedo at Westminster
in February 2020 and received the honor of First Award of Merit, with our appreciation to Judge John Constantine-Amodei. JR
was shown a few times after Westminster, picking up additional group placments at shows in Texas, including two Terrier Group
wins in Midland, before heading to Louisville, Kentucky, in March 2020 (three months before JR's second birthday) for the
Wesie Roving National. Unfortunately, the shows were cancelled during the second day in Louisville due to COVID-19, and the
National never took place. JR's future show career is uncertain at this time but we are happy to have him back home. As of
the last posting of statistics (August 31, 2020), JR was among the Top 5 Westies in the country for Breed and #3 All-Breed.
In October 2020, JR was awarded top Winners Dog and Bred-by Dog honors for 2019 during the WHWTCA (virtual) annual award ceremony.
